Jaime Vallecilla Gordillo


Jaime is an economist at the Universidad del Valle and has a specialization in “Topics in Long-Run Economics” from the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, at the University of Guelph (Ontario-Canada). He has extensive experience and recognition at both the national and international levels in matters related to regional and urban economic growth, the input-output model, the coffee economy and economic measurement within the framework of the national accounts system.

Jaime has extensive experience in the field of research and has worked as a researcher at the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), as a research professor at the Javeriana University in Bogotá and researcher of CEGA in the same city; as a researcher at the Autonomous University of Manizales (UAM) and at CRECE in the city of Manizales. He is editor of the Regional Economic Observatory (OER) sponsored by CRECE and the UAM. He was the editor of the magazine RegionEs of CRECE, INER of the University of Antioquia and Observatory of the Colombian Caribbean (Cartagena). He has also been a consultant for Colombia at the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) in Brasilia and at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago.
